Trekking in Nepal- Ghorepani Poon Hill

Started my journey to paradise... Trekking has been popular in Nepal for decades. At Kathmandu, you can find several good guiding companies, and ‘teahouse’ lodges, where you get to stay while trekking, make your treks astonishingly comfortable. Even for those with little or absolutely zero trekking experience, Nepal offers several amazing, affordable and absolutely unforgettable experiences. Enjoying the best part of trek at Poon Hill   Being an outdoor junkie, trekking was an absolutely must do activity for me on my Nepal trip. After a lot of discussions and research, I decided to do the Gorepani-Poon Hill trek, which is considered to be an easy 4-5 days trek. (Being alone, I decided to go at my own pace, soaking in the beauty of nature and the culture of the place, and took 7 days to finish it.) The trek falls in the Annapurna mountain range of Nepal. Encounter with beautiful strems and waterfalls From the first day, we (myself, my guide, and a port...

Drifting to Nepal

The world is too big to tell just one story, and that is the reason why I drifted myself a little outside India on my vacation this year. As I am all for mountains, Nepal was an obvious choice. Nepal is sometimes overlooked by Indian tourists, as it is thought of as an extension of India; but it is not! Nepal is a beautiful and fascinating country, with a lot of history. It is a paradise for travellers who love being outdoors, as Nepal offers some of the best trekking options in the Himalayas. Also, Nepalese people are incredibly friendly and fun-loving people. You try to learn a little bit of Nepali from them, and they will love you for it. Being Indian, it was really easy for me to get with people and situations in Nepal. The country is very safe for solo travellers, and even women. The country has more than 30 ethnic groups,  with  tremendous variations in their culture and dialects. I really loved learning about the culture and language of Nepal during my...

Postcards from the top of the world

Over the last few years, instant messaging, messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Hike and many more, and e-mails, coupled with easy access to internet just about everywhere, hand-written letters and postcards have almost become extinct. Yet still, there are many people who love to receive postal mail that contains something other than your monthly magazine subscriptions, credit card approvals and bills. It can be an entirely amazing experience to take a few minutes off while you are on vacation and jot down a quick note for your loved one, and send it via the postal services. The world's highest post office in Hikkim  Writing postcards is one of my favourite ways to pass time while sitting in coffee shops or restaurants, and has now turned into an essential part of every trip I make. It is a quick, easy, sweet and affordable way to show someone that you care, while you are gallivanting. I spend a good time to select my post cards. Posting my...

Unknown places... unknown faces...

For many years I have lived in small places because of my work profile and these places have given me quite a good things to write about in my diaries. In these less popular places , where social media is not the norm to get your message out, people appreciate having an ear or two to hear what they have to say. As I am all for meeting locals and listening their stories  and what they have to say, several of these people have made into my diaries. I decided to take some time to compile some of the stories for you to enjoy! Oh my God... It's Dadu! We all grow old but some of us are forever young at heart. That is a fine quality and people with this quality are rare breed. My love for tea and listening to his "Oh my God!" to any situation drags me to Dadu's tea stall. Dadu is nearly in his 80's, but young at heart than a lot of people I have met. Spending few minutes at his tea stall gives me a joy similar to the one which I used to feel when I used to play with ...

Forest on Fire

Summer has come and weather is getting warmer day by day. A lot of birds can be seen flocking together as they come into heat for a mating season. While all this is happening, some of the tress have also been seen adopting few charming ways, specially the ones with blood red flower.          Out of all "Bloody Blossoms" my favorites are Silk- Cotton tree and Flame-of-the-forest (Palash/Tesu). They are looking amorous in the season and have one common entity of red and rowdy petals. But these lovelorn trees dress down their leaves and bear bright flowers. To this I got to hear an interesting fact from my husband that I would like to share. He said that the sudden burst of flowers on the dead-looking trees is triggered by the heat of the summers and the dryness in the air and soil. Standing at the far corner, all alone with might. Silk- cotton tree or Semal is indeed beautiful with large red flowers, which I love to pick every morning on my walk. On...

Small things big happiness

My earnings of the day!!! Sometimes small things are enough to make you happy, aren’t they? I am the kind of person who has no control over my emotions; it is nearly impossible for me to decide how I want to feel or why I feel that way. However, I have found that by seeking joy from the little things in life, I gain immense happiness.  Things like bangles and a carved piece of wood bought from a village market or collecting my favourite flowers on the way to home. These are just a few little things, which might seem worthless to many. There are copious amounts of treasures one can find everyday, which are a sure-fire way to help make you happy. P.S. If you can't find anything to make you happy, be the thing that makes others happy, because nothing makes people happier than being the sugar that sweetens someone's tea! I challenge you to find small things that make you happy and tell me in the comment box!  Hope you have a great week ahead. XOXO ...

A Little Taste Of Wanderlust

When I say I am wanderlust, it makes me smile! Maybe, because wanderlust explains my condition… It’s the  syndrome  and travelling is the  symptom . Travelling is what puts a smile on my face. It’s something that I’ve chosen to incorporate in my life and made part of my lifestyle. Because for me, it’s a source of pure happiness. It’s that simple! But to be honest, I was never a travel freak; in fact I was a girl who never used to go out on a school picnics and outings. I don’t know exactly what provoked the need to be a traveller. I’ve never really travelled with my family, and I didn’t know any avid travelled either. I don’t even remember talking to anyone about this aspect of my personality ever. Story of becoming a traveller Because I am in the hospitality industry, my work has given me ample of opportunities to work in some of the best tourist places across the country. But I myself missed the chances to enjoy the experiences of such places. While working...
